Patient preferences are not clearly understood and prioritized by SC developers in order to identify key perceptions and differences regarding optimal SC product design attributes. Publicly available quantitative data is insufficient and opinions are ineffective and difficult to communicate. SC developers need an indication-specific body of evidence to help guide design decisions during SC product development.
Industry follows comparable and standardized patient-centric design methodologies to achieve improved product design and solutions and helps HCP and patients understand and easily communicate their dosing options so that advantages, disadvantages, and trade-offs of each are universally accepted and understood, ultimately leading to improved patient experience and adherence.

In 2023, the patient preference and experience (PP/PE) team prioritized understanding the patient journey in order to identify key pain points to be addressed in the SC product design and development process. Insights from this study were used to draft a detailed manuscript and initiate discussion on next steps to further this research.
